Opened Back PlayStation Network Service this Week


    Sony will begin the process of revamping and Qriocity PlayStation Network this week. President of consumer products, Kazuo Hirai said in a press conference today. The second service will be continued for a month.


    Companies listed in this service, scheduled to commence in recent weeks:

    • Online games and games that require a login to the PlayStation Network
    • Video content in the rental, PS3, PSP and MediaGo that have been downloaded
    • Rental of access to content that has been downloaded for Video on Demand Powered by Qriocity (time restrictions apply)
    • PlayStation Home
    • Chat

    Not yet clear whether all services will be displayed simultaneously or will be gradual. Sony also explain how this will make a difference to the second user of this service during the last two weeks. Users also will be offered a free download for the content of his choice.

    PSN users will be offered PlayStation Plus free for 30 days (customers will now get a free extension about 30 days). For users of Music Unlimited Powered by Qriocity, will be given the service free for 30 days.

    There will be no bid for free to any content other than those referred to earlier. And it will be done by region. Hirai also promised to improve the management of Sony Group Network. This will create a "Chief Information Security Officer" a new one, which manages information security and Qriocity PlayStation Network. Any complaints can be directly reporting to the Chief Information Officer of Sony.

    Sony also will give firmware of the PlayStation 3 on PSN update time has been restored. All users need to change their passwords. 4Gamer reported some additional details of which Hirai said about leakage of information. Sony believes the leaking of information as follows:


    • Name
    • Sex
    • Address (including phone number)
    • State
    • Email Address
    • Date of birth
    • PSN Online ID
    • PSN login and password Qriocity
    • Although it is in the believe is leaking, there was no evidence as follows:
    • Note the purchase and data information including the billing address
    • Security question for PSN and log Qriocity
    • Credit card number and expiry date


    For credit cards, Sony rule out the possibility that the card security code leak. In a Q & A that followed the press conference, Hirai said that Sony's service has 10 million credit cards listed. He said that Sony has not been any reports of illegal use of the card.
